Following their efforts to recruit a new wide receiver, the Huskies have on their current squad a washed out minor league baseball player playing as a defensive back. Tripper Johnson, a .270 hitter for a single A affiliate of the Pirates, bounced around in the minors for eight seasons before deciding his minor-league skills were better suited as a player for the Huskies, in a different sport than the one he had expiereince with.
The Huskies sound delighted to get such an inexperienced, old player. Said secondary coach J.D. Williams, "he has some ability. Now it's just a matter of picking up the defense and everything." Isn't that a bit like saying of someone who has only cooked macaroni and cheese their whole life, who you are trying to recruit to be a sushi chef: "He knows how to boil water. Now it's just a matter of picking up the sushi thing and all."
